Meeting the Tire Industry’s ever-changing needs with innovative, flexible solutions

The Steelastic Company, LLC was founded in 1970 by Sterling W. Alderfer, a prominent inventor and entrepreneur well known in the tire manufacturing community. The company forged its reputation on an innovative process for extruding, cutting and splicing steel belt for radial tires.
Over the last five decades Steelastic has grown to become a key supplier and innovator in the global tire industry by adding body ply, cap strip and automatic apexing systems to its growing equipment portfolio.

Today, STEELASTIC® has over 900 systems operating in more than 55 countries around the world. As the tire industry continues to evolve we continue our commitment to innovations which are closely aligned to our customer’s needs.

STEELASTIC® has been owned by Heico Companies LLC since 1998. Heico is a privately owned business with headquarters in Chicago, IL, USA, with a portfolio of over 50 companies worldwide.

Manufacturing Facilities
STEELASTIC® occupies a new 100,000 ft2 facility in Akron, Ohio with over half of the space dedicated to assembly and manufacturing. STEELASTIC® is fully equipped to handle any complexity of mechanical and electrical systems. This space allows us the ability to fully assemble and test all systems prior to shipment.

In addition to our assembly work space, we maintain a multi-functional machine shop that houses numerous CNC milling and turning centers, as well as an in-house painting capability.

Project Management
STEELASTIC® utilizes product specific Project Managers who are involved from the initial scope definition through to project completion at the customers site. Our team of Project Managers act as internal customers at STEELASTIC® and handle all technical and commercial contact with the customer post order. Through this approach we ensure we execute to plan, first time, every time.

Engineering Capabilities
STEELASTIC® has complete in-house engineering capabilities for both system design and integration as well as engineers dedicated to ongoing research and development. We are continuously working on product innovations in an effort to better serve the changing needs of our customers and the industry.
