Steelastic offers Hot Belt and Ply Gum Edger Systems for the automatic application of hot gum edging of radial tire steel belts and body plys. Through an on-line, closed-loop controlled extrusion process, both edges of the tire reinforcement material receive a direct application of heated rubber compound for an absolute seal devoid of gum splices. Customers can specify their own gum edge profile shape. This system eliminates the costly calendering process and material handling costs associated with the production of cold gum strips.
